Juan-Carlos Kaski is Professor of Cardiovascular Science and the Immediate-Past Director of the Cardiovascular and Cell Sciences Research Institute at St George’s, University of London. He is also Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at St George’s Hospital, and the Royal Brompton Hospital, in London. Prof. Kaski’s research is focused on microvascular angina and on biomarkers of rapid coronary artery disease progression, myocardial ischaemia and cardiovascular risk. Professor Kaski has authored over 500 papers in peer review journals and more than 150 invited papers and book chapters. He has also edited eight books on cardiovascular topics, including one on cardiac biomarkers and the recent edition of European Society of Cardiology Handbook of Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy. He also regularly lectures around the world on his research topics.

Professor Kaski was President of the International Society of Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy and Chairman of the ESC Working Group on Microcirculation. He is Editor-in-Chief of European Cardiology Review, Immediate-past Deputy Editor of the International Journal of Cardiology and editorial board member of over 20 major cardiology journals. Juan Carlos Kaski is Doctor Honoris Causa of several universities worldwide, Fellow of many international scientific societies and the recipient of numerous awards for his contribution to medical science and education, including the Gold Medal of the Spanish Society of Cardiology, the University of Fukushima Cardiology award and the Doctor of Science title of the University of London.
